   The Father’s Day is around the corner, and I am writing this letter to express my sincere gratitude to you. Had it not been for your support，I would not win the first prize in the English speaking competition.

Last semester, my college held an English speaking competition and the winner would represent the college to compete with candidates from other top-level universities. As an English amateur, I did not hesitate to take part in it. However, as the competition was coming, I felt so nervous and anxious that I could not concentrate on preparing for it.
